Poland Central School District
Capital Project 2020
Background: A large-scale project was approved by voters on May 16, 2017.
Voters approved the proposed budget for the 2017-18 school year which included a $14.25 million 2017-2018 spending plan with a zero percent tax levy increase that maintained educational programs for students.
Additionally, voters approved $12.1 million in capital project improvements. Voters received the capital project in two propositions. A proposition for $10.1 million was for the majority of the proposed work which was supported 214 to 123. A proposition for an additional $2 million for purchasing land, constructing a new track, and also a varsity soccer field passed 200 to 136.
In recent years the district has dedicated from $300,000 to $500,000 annually to address ongoing maintenance needs like roof repairs, paving, door replacements, etc. However, we are unable to meet all of the needs of our aging facility without considering larger projects as needed. What we have named "Capital Project 2020" addresses program, security, property/grounds, and infrastructure needs.
