Your child has been provided with a home folder for daily communication. Your child should carry this folder back and forth to school daily. This is the safest place to put notes, money (placed in a labeled baggie or envelope), etc. Please check the folder each evening and remove the contents on the “LEFT at home side.” Anything placed in the “right back to school” side should be read, responded to as appropriate, and returned to school as soon as possible. In the middle of your child’s home folder, you will find a copy of our monthly classroom calendar to serve as a reminder of important upcoming events and a lunch menu.

Transportation, Absences, & Tardies
If you have any changes to your child’s transportation needs the school requires a detailed written note at least 5 days in advance. If riding a bus please include: the bus number, exact address including house number and road, and the full name of the person residing at the address where your child is to be dropped off. If your child will be picked up from school, please provide a detailed note outlining who will be picking him or her up and when. If your child is absent from school, please send in a written excuse upon his or her return. Printable bus notes and absence notes can be found on the polandcsd.org website under the “student/parent” tab.
Please provide a snack for your child daily. We will be eating snack in the afternoon since lunch is early in the day. If a utensil is needed, please send one with your child. At this time, there are no food allergies within our classroom. If there are food allergies that I am unaware of please let me know immediately.
Birthdays are a big deal in first grade! We celebrate everybody’s birthday even if it falls on a weekend, vacation or break from school, or summer.
Your child may bring in individually wrapped, sealed, store bought treats to be distributed by the classroom teacher.
**Please understand that the treats must be store bought and individually wrapped. **
For example: Rice Krispie treats, mini muffins, brownie bites, etc. We currently have 10 students in our class.
Children will be expected to:
Be a good friend
Use kind words to solve problems
Do their best
Listen and be respectful of others
I will focus on positive reinforcement and building positive relationships with each student. Each child will receive a punch card and as positive choices are noticed they will receive a punch on their punch card. Upon filling the card, students will be able to choose an item from the treasure chest. If a child is struggling to make positive choices or his or her behavior becomes a distraction to our classroom learning environment, I will contact parents/guardians to discuss my concerns.
I feel it is important to maintain a positive home school connection with families throughout the school year. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions or concerns!
I check my email several times a day: email@example.com
or you may call:
I will utilize Parent Square to send weekly newsletters, reminders, and other communication.
