Special Education Services
Resource Room
The resource room program is a special education program for a student needing additional instruction in a small group setting. During this time, the special education teacher works with students on their goals listed on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Students are taught in a group of no more than five students at this time. This is a pull out of the classroom service.
Special Class ELA/Math
Special class means a class consisting of only students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Students are grouped together because of similar individual needs. During this time, students are taught at their reading or math level in a separate classroom by a special education teacher.
Direct Consultant Teacher Services
Direct consultant teacher services are instructional services delivered by a special education teacher to a small group of students while they are in the classroom. The special education teacher works with this small group of students to help them successfully participate and make progress during regular instruction. This is a push-in service because the teacher goes to the students. In other words, the special education teacher works in the students' classroom. Due to COVID-19, direct consultant teacher services have a flexible model.
