Poland Central School's
35th Science Fair
March 9, 2023Utica University Regional Science Fair - April 1, 2023
Science Fair Overview
Generation of enthusiasm is perhaps the most challenging task of today's educators. The joint efforts of the Poland Central School Science Fair Committee, the P.C.S. Science Department, and several other community members have created an atmosphere in which all students can demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and interest in the fields of science and technology. Our science fair is a cumulative result of this endeavor. Each secondary student enrolled in science at Poland Central will participate in this event by preparing a project selected from one of the following categories:
NATURAL SCIENCE
PHYSICAL SCIENCE
MATH-TECHNOLOGY
While the primary purpose of this assignment is to provide students with an educational experience in scientific research, two other objectives share equal importance - stimulating an active interest in the fields of science and technology, and providing public recognition to talented students. Preliminary judging will be held in late January or early February 2023. The students with the most outstanding projects will compete in the P.C.S. 35th Annual Science Fair. Prizes will be awarded to the entries in each category receiving the highest scores from the judges based on the following criteria:
CREATIVITY
ABILITY
THOROUGHNESS
SKILL
CLARITY
KNOWLEDGE
Projects will be judged by volunteer professionals from several companies, agencies, and businesses representing the math, science, and technical community of Central New York. Explore the entire Science Fair Website for further information.
