POLAND – Poland Central School District students won 19 Special Awards and Category Awards, along with seven Participation Awards, at the 43rd annual Utica University Regional Science Fair.

 

Poland student Maya Virgil won the Senior Division Runner-Up Grand Champion Award, which includes a half tuition scholarship for one year at Utica University. She also won the Senior Division First Place Natural Science Award and the Senior Division Second Place AFCEA Award supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory.

 

“Our students had a great showing at the Utica University Regional Science Fair, and we’re proud of the work they put into their projects and presentations,” Poland science teacher Kevin Ford said.

 

Poland students qualified for the Utica University Regional Science Fair by winning awards in the 34th annual Poland Science Fair this school year. Both science fairs were primarily held virtually. Ford and Poland science teacher Jessica Meyer served as the coordinators for the Poland Science Fair.

  • Runner-Up Grand Champion Award – Senior Division

  • Second Place Math, Computer and Engineering Award – Senior Division

 

Ashley Waterman:

  • Third Place Natural Science Award – Junior Division

  • Asa Gray Biological Society Award – Junior Division

 

Alyssa Militello:

  • Fourth Place Natural Science Award – Senior Division

  • Society for In Vitro Biology Award – Senior Division

 

Grace Grems:
