Public Participation in Meetings

The Board encourages parents/guardians and staff to offer their expertise in developing a school environment that is academically challenging, psychologically satisfying and socially fulfilling for students at all levels. The objectives of an educational program are best realized when mutual understanding, cooperation and effective communications exist among the home, community and school.

All meetings of the Board of Education are open to the public. The public is invited to attend meetings and will be given limited time to voice their opinions and concerns.

The Board recognizes its responsibility to conduct the business of the school district in an orderly and efficient manner and will, therefore, require reasonable controls to regulate public presentations to the Board. The Board will set aside a time period during each regular meeting to allow members of the public, to express their opinions. A person wishing to be heard by the Board shall first identify himself/herself and then briefly proceed with his/her comments. The President is responsible for the orderly conduct of the meeting and shall rule on such matters as time to be allowed for public comment, appropriateness of the subject being presented and the suitability of the time for such presentation. The Board, as a whole, shall have the final decision in determining appropriateness of all such rulings.
