About the Booster Club
The Athletics Booster Club supports Tornadoes sports by funding equipment, uniforms, and travel to enhance the student-athlete experience and build community spirit.
Boosters Sports Club By-Laws
Article I: Name
Section 1: The name of this organization shall be the Poland Central School (PCS) Boosters Sports Club.
Article II: Purpose
Section 1: The intent of this organization shall be to promote and encourage athletic opportunities in PCS by:
- Creating a continuing interest in sports, that will not end with graduation.
- Promoting a feeling of unity, understanding, acknowledgment, and camaraderie among alumni of the high school and the communities at large;
- Establishing a financial support group that will have insight into community sports and through this understanding, thus have a positive influence on the future of the sports program at PCS.
- This organization is an independent club and not affiliated with the school.
Article III: Membership
Section 1: Any person 18 years of age or older agreeing with the by-laws, or who has attended PCS, shall be eligible for membership.
Article IV: Officers
Section 1: The officers of the organization shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section 2: Election of the officers shall be held each year at the regular monthly meeting in June.
Section 3: The officers shall have the powers and duties usual to their respective offices.
Section 4: The Board of Directors shall be composed of four (4) elected officials to serve for a term of two (2) years.
Section 5: The Board of Directors shall manage and control the business and other affairs of the organization. Three (3) members of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the transactions of business.
Section 6: Any vacancies occurring among the officer or the Board of Directors shall be filled by appointment through the remaining members of the Board of Directors.
Section 7: Any officer or member of the Board of Directors may be removed at any time by the affirmative vote of a majority of the Board of Directors at a regular meeting, or a publicized special meeting called for the purpose.
Section 8: The treasurer is responsible for payment of all bills and is subject to an audit at least once a year or at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
Section 9: No person can hold an office and be a member of the Board of Directors at the same time.
Article V: Contributions and Assistance
Section 1: By accepting membership in the organization, there is an assumption that members understand the spirit of sports activities at PCS, and furthermore, a pledge to the support of fund raising and other services-oriented efforts of the organization.
Section 2: It is expected that the interscholastic sport capitol expense budget of the public school, including traveling expenses for away contests, will be funded by the PCS annual budget, as submitted by the Board of Education and approved by the voters of the school district.
Section 3: Contributions made from this organization shall be allocated in the following manner:
- Appropriate award to a varsity section championship team and coach chosen by the officers and directors of the Club. Sports to be considered are Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Softball, Track, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Cheerleading, Wrestling. (Subject to change)
- The Sports Boosters Club will provide each member of any varsity CSC section championship a team jacket designated as the PCS Booster Club, Team Coach and senior team members.
- In the event of an accomplishment by an individual athlete, sports boosters will provide a plaque for CSC Championships in their individual events in all sports. A plaque will also be provided to anyone who sets a school record in their sport.
The plaque will be approximately 8×10 inches and will give a brief description of their accomplishments. The plaque will be presented to the athlete at the annual sports banquet in June. - All seniors will receive a senior frame during senior night of their first Varsity Sport season conclusion.
Article VI: Meeting
Open meetings of membership shall be held at least annually, at such a time and places to be determined by the Board of Directors. Special meetings may be called by the Board of Directors at any time upon proper notice.
Article VII: Amendment
These by-laws may be reviewed by a committee appointed by the President and suggested changes submitted to the Board of Directors and then may be amended to changed by a vote of said Board of Directors.
