Ed Law 2d
The Poland Central School District exercises a commitment to safeguarding the personally identifiable information of students, teachers, and principals in compliance with state and federal data security and privacy laws.
If at any time the district learns that student and/or employee data has been compromised, parents/guardians will be notified, and the data breach will be reported to the New York State Education Department. Parents/guardians who have concerns or complaints about data privacy or security may file a complaint by contacting the Superintendent and Data Protection Officer Laura Dutton at (315) 826-0203.
Parents’ Bill of Rights
In accordance with New York State law, the Poland Central School District’s Parents’ Bill of Rights outlines the district’s commitment to protecting student data privacy through rigorous security standards, the prohibition of commercial data sales, and the provision of clear procedures for parents to inspect records or report potential security breaches.
Third-Party Vendor Contract Information
As a priority, the district uses regional resources that are purchased through the Mohawk Regional Information Center (MORIC) and are bundled with professional development and 24/7 support.
To view the vendors utilized by Poland Central Schools through a MORIC agreement, consult the MORIC Service Standards and Contracts List. The specific vendors used under a MORIC agreement are identified by yellow highlighting.
Additionally, Poland Central Schools has implemented a contract with SuperKids. The SuperKids software is used with our K-2 reading program.
NYS Distraction-Free Schools Law
Poland Central School District Cell Phone/Personal Internet-Enabled Device Policy
As required by N.Y. Education Law § 2803, a district-wide prohibition on student use of personal electronic devices during the school day is established to comply with applicable law and regulations.
